This is the famous 1898 Gold Rush town of Dawson City Yukon. The population during the Gold Rush was believed to be around 30,000 but far fewer live in Dawson City now.

Some people make the long journey from Whitehorse to Dawson City by canoe on the historical Yukon River. It's a long trip but if you have the time it's more than worth it.
